About Leicestershire An independent site that's all About Leicestershire, England.
Appleby Magna The Appleby Web Site is run on behalf of the village by volunteers.  We love to hear your views, news, contributions and corrections.
Arnesby The village of Arnesby is situated 8 miles south of Leicester and 25 miles north of Northampton, just off the A5199 (formerly the A50). There are 120 houses, two churches, one pub and a Post Office.
Asfordby Asfordby Parish consists of three villages, Asfordby, Asfordby Valley and Asfordby Hill, which are situated to the north of the River Wreake near to the market town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

Bagworth Prior to the year 2000 it had long been recognised that the people of Bagworth were in dire need of acquiring up to date local news. In the spring of last year a handful of concerned residents met to try and rectify the problem.
Barkestone The separate villages of Barkestone, Plungar & Redmile were grouped into one parish in 1936. The three small villages, with a combined adult population of 650, are set geographically in the Vale of Belvoir and administratively in Leicestershire and the Borough of Melton.
Barrow upon Soar Barrow Voice is published by Barrow upon Soar Community Association.
Barwell There are two churches in the Parish of Barwell.  St. Mary's is a grade one listed building and has been standing on the site for over 700 years.
Birstall Birstall is a large village located on the northern outskirts of Leicester, eight miles
south of Loughborough and bisected by the main A6.

Braunstone Estate Its distance from the City Centre isolates Braunstone, an outer City Estate. A swathe of outer city council estates runs from the north of Leicester to the south, Braunstone being the southern most.
Braunstone Town Until the mid 1920s Braunstone remained a large family estate  surrounded by farmsteads with title stretching back to the reign of  Edward The Confessor.
Broughton Astley Broughton Astley is in the South West of Leicestershire, about 6 miles to the East of Hinckley and about 9 miles from the centre of Leicester.

for three old communities in the South West of Leicestershire. These communities were Broughton Astley, Primethorpe, and Sutton-in-the-Elms.
Burbage Burbage is situated in Leicestershire, 14 miles south west of Leicester and 1 mile south of the town of Hinckley.
Burton on the Wolds Burton-on-the Wolds - incorporating Prestwold, Hoton & Cotes. Burton-on-the-Wolds. Burton-on-the-Wolds is the largest of the 4 villages. It is situated on the B676 and has a population of apporximately 900.

Charnwood Arts Charnwood Arts is an independent community arts and media organisation based in the Borough of Charnwood in the East Midlands of Britain. It is a registered arts and educational charity (No. 505977).
Charnwood Online Charnwood On-line was created as a gateway (portal) web site about the Charnwood area. It is intended to be of help to three types of user, namely residents, businesses and tourists.

Cotes Burton-on-the Wolds - incorporating

Croft Croft is half way between Leicester and Hinckley in South West Leicestershire.The village is located about 8 miles south west of the city of Leicester in the East Midlands region of England. The population in 1999 was just over 1,600 persons in around 600 dwellings.

Dadlington The village is small and peaceful. It once clustered around the spacious green, but since World War II has extended in a ribbon development towards Hinckley. There is no shop or post office, but Ambion Court Hotel, a converted farmhouse, provides comfortable accommodation, and the 18th century Dog & Hedgehog pub, next to the church, is well-known locally for its good quality meals.

Earl Shilton The village is first recorded in the domesday survey of 1086, it was then known as Scheltone. By 1279 the name had become Schulton. Both of these names relate to 'shelf' as the town was perched on a hill.
East Midland Oral History Archive The East Midlands Oral History Archive is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to establish the first large-scale archive of oral history recordings for Leicestershire & Rutland. This includes the collections of the former Leicester Oral History Archive, the Mantle archive from North West Leicestershire, the Community History archive of Leicester City Libraries, and the sound archive of BBC Radio Leicester, along with smaller collections donated by local organisations or individuals.

Frisby on the Wreake Frisby on the Wreake is a small village on the Upper Wreake Valley off the main A607 road four miles west of  Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

Gaddesby Gaddesby is an attractive village to the South of Melton Mowbray and to the North East of Leicester. It lies on the B674 between Rearsby and Twyford. The current population of the village is around 450 people in some 170 households.
Glen Parva The Parish of Glen Parva has a population of nearly 5,500 and extends along both sides of the A426 and the eastern section of the A5096. In recent years boundary reviews have reduced the size of the parish which adjoins Wigston and the southern development of Leicester.

Harborough The ComKnet project is the result of a £150,000 award under the Government's Multimedia Demonstrator (MMDP) program.
Harby Harby is a large Vale of Belvoir village with a population of 873 people, 375 houses, nine miles north of Melton Mowbray.
Hathern If you have time, take a walk along the four streets which surround the churchyard. In a clockwise direction you will go down the Green Hill, passing the Catholic Church and the Hathern Branch Library on your left.
Hinkley Online Hinckley Online is a news and information website about the Leicestershire town of Hinckley and the surrounding district.
Hoton Hoton village is on the A60 between Loughborough and Nottingham.

Kegworth Anyone leaving the M1 at Junction 24 can see from the roundabout why Kegworth was chosen as a site for a settlement. To the left are the low levels of the flood plains of the rivers Trent and Soar, in winter, often a silver mirror of flood water.
Kirby Muxloe By the time of the Doomsday book (1086), the settlement was called Carbi and had a working population of 8. The rights and privileges afforded by the forest were both highly valued and jealously guarded.
Kirkby Mallory Kirkby Mallory is a small village set in the rural countryside of Leicestershire. It is    situated approximately 8 miles SW. of Leicester and comprises of about 60 houses a 13th century church, shop, village hall and a racing circuit.

Leire Leire Village Hall is maintained and run purely through local fund raising activities organised by the Village Hall Committee, voluntary donations, contributions from local organisations and individuals, and receives no state or local funding.
Little Bowden The origins of Little Bowden stretch back well over a thousand years and this community is far older than the town of Market Harborough which now overshadows it.

Prestwold Prestwold village grew up around St Andrew's Chruch and Prestwold Hall. In 1783 'The Villa of Prestwold' was advertised to let, 'situated at an agreeable distance from Nottingham and Leicester in the middle of Mr Meynell's Hunt.

Sapcote Sapcote is in the South West of Leicestershire, within the United Kingdom. It can be reached easily via the A5 or M69. We are very proud of our village heritage and community. In 1991 (Last Census) there were 2,628 people living in the village.
Sharnford Village This website has been created for the village of Sharnford, Leicestershire.
Sheepy Magna The ancient parish of Sheepy Magna included the villages of Sheepy Parva, Pinwall, Ratcliffe Culey and the Mythe.
Stoke Golding Stoke Golding lies in the heart of England, on the South Western edge of Leicestershire, close to the Warwickshire border. Within two miles is the market town of Hinckley and 16 miles away is theCity of Leicester.
Stoney Stanton The residents of Stoney Stanton are an active bunch of people, having an annual carnival, a village fete held on the green, a Christmas Fayre held each year in the Social Club and two football teams, one for adults and one for juniors. The center of the village is dominated by St Michael's Church.
Swannington Heritage Trust Swannington Heritage Trust, formed in 1984 as a Company limited by guarantee and a registered Charity, aims to provide, establish and preserve facilities in the village of Swannington and its neighbourhood.
Talk@Sileby In 2001 the Talk@Sileby produced the first issue of the quarterly magazine the Talk@Sileby. The magazine was produced as a direct consequence of the villagers asking for news of events and what is happening at council meetings etc. when they filled in the village appraisal questionnaire. The magazine is completely independent from the parish council and the borough council so that you get unbiased news and views on the village .
Syston (Syston Online) This flourishing town stands north east of Leicester on the Melton Mowbray Road, with the Fosse Way and the River Wreake close by.

Thorpe Acre Until the mid-twentieth century Thorpe Acre comprised about twenty houses or cottages of which several still survive. It has a nineteenth century church, now extended and an old pub, The Plough Inn.
Thringstone This is the community site for Thringstone, a sleepy village in the wilds of Leicestershire.

Vale of Belvoir Belvoir is one of the smallest hamlets in the Vale and is dominated by Belvoir Castle which is the home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland.

Waltham on the Wolds Set on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir about 5 miles out of Melton Mowbray and 10 miles from Grantham. Waltham has many traditional limestone buildings with the best examples along the High Street and around the green near the church.
Whetstone A plan to illuminate St Peters Church Whetstone as part of the millennium celebrations has come to fruition.
Woodhouse Eaves In the spirit of openness still evident in many parts of the Web, it is hoped to cooperate with other sites having overlapping or related coverage. Links to a number of such sites are included, and most have reciprocated.
Wymeswold Wymeswold lies a few miles to the north east of Loughborough. It is now a large and popular conservation village, with some fine Georgian buildings, over 30 of the houses are now Grade 2 listed buildings. Pugin restored the 14th century church in 1844.
Wymondham Wymondham is a village near Melton Mowbray in the county of Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England.  We have a windmill which is a popular visitor attraction, and a pub with an award-winning restaurant.
