Octoberfest 2004

The extreme success of this event again this year is down to the kind support and effort of village folk, local businesses, CAMRA and its supporters - and the local community for turning out in droves. Some visitors did come long distances including a group from Wales and Leamington Spa!

Our lovely Village Hall again provided a splendid setting for the event with its stage facilities being used by the artists, Fast Fret Fred, Auld Spyce and Walls Jazzers with a surprise addition on Friday of a brilliant solo singing spot by Jenny Wilkinson borrowed from the cabaret of the Quorn Ballroom Dancing also based in our Village Hall. All the groups this year were based within 4 miles of Quorn and they did us proud.

The enthusiastic audience made a wonderful atmosphere and the event went off without a hitch-almost. A short power cut in Quorn on Saturday provided a bit of uncertainty! Thanks are also due to The Munch Box for their support and mobile catering, which was appreciated by many.

Make a date for next year’s event on 13th, 14th and 15th of October - selection of participating groups is already in hand.

The proceeds are again going to those parishioners who want to dedicate their time to organizing community events in the hall but need to avoid high costs or commercial risk: you only need to contact David Cawdell on 01509 412944.

Hmmmm....Moonshine!

Bird's eye view of the bar

What do you mean you want a shandy!

You can't have that, that's my lunch!

My arms ache!
