Your Letters

To the Editor of The Quorndon,

'Prevention is better than cure' was the thought when watching vet another nutter negotiate the 'Chaveney chicane' recently. It's become patently obvious that the council needs to act in order to avert a disaster which is definitely waiting to happen.

Speeds of well over 60 mph are just not acceptable on Chaveney Road and Meeting Street (we've clocked several vehicles) and through it would be an unpopular move in the eyes of many local folk ramps are the only answer.

They've had the required effect in the High Street, unsightly and vexing without doubt, but the main objective to slow down the seemingly endless stream of 'Damon Hill impersonators has been achieved. Unfortunately 'they'' now go along the top part of Quorn and residents in Chaveney Road surely must have their hearts in their mouth's everyday.

The bypass has been a success without doubt but because of the aforementioned ramps motorists cut through the back roads.

Picturesque and an outstanding characteristic of our lovely village it may well have been in the past, but there's tile future to look forward to and that's why ramps will undoubtedly save both human and animal lives.

What is the price of life? How long is a piece of string is the answer and so Council let's see a genuine effort to have money spent on meaningful projects which will contribute to the safety of road users.
