Your Letters The Village Shops It is always a pleasure to look to Barries (Greengrocers)
shop window. It doesn't matter what event or what time of year they always
come up with something special. P M Sharp I read with delight late last year in the Loughborough Echo that at last we (as a village) were to get a bye-law making dog fouling a fineable offence on the Stafford Orchard and the children's playground. The bye-law came into effect on January I this year and to my disgust and dismay the amount of dog excrement in the area has increased hugely, the paths are covered in dogdirt and the most fouled areas are still those immediately around the dog-dirt bins! ! I am in no doubt that these are deliberate acts on the part
of the dog-owners. They show a complete disregard for others, especially
the most vulnerable, the very young, who are put most at risk by the dog
owners, who allow their dogs to foul School Lane, despite protest from
a local home owner. SchoolLane is now impossible to negotiate without
stepping in dog-muck. This same dog-muck travels on pushchair wheels and
parents' and children's feet straight into playgroup where babies and
children spend many a happy hour playing on the floor - yuk I expend great amounts of energy trying to keep my children happy, healthy, clean and safe, and I find myself saying constantly while we are out: 'look where you are walking or 'don't step in that'. This, believe me, takes any pleasure out of a journey both for my children and myself I am, to be blunt, heartily sick of this, both physically an mentally. I shall not hesitate to report anybody I see allowing their animal to foul - in the interest of both myself and other 'pavement and park' users. Name and Address supplied |
