Alan Clarke - 50 years of service
On Saturday 8th July, J Wakerley and Son held a presentation
dinner at The Quality Hotel in Loughborough, to show their appreciation
to Alan Clarke for 50 years of service. This meal was greatly enjoyed
by the Wakerley family and the staff.
Following the meal, Mr Ron Wakerley presented an engraved
cut glass decanter and glasses to Alan Clarke and thanked him for his
work and support to three generations of the local bakery family.
As you will imagine, there have been many changes over the
last 50 years and those gathered enjoyed the chance to reminisce with
"can you remember...."

Young Enterprise
Congratulations to enterprising Hannah Beckett, 11, and
Harriet McHigh, also 11, who have set up a Pet Sitters service.
Pet Sitters is pet paradise for your small friend when they
can't come away with you. Hannah and Harriet will look after rabbits,
gerbils, guinea pigs, fish, mice and other small pets.
If you want to know more about Pet Sitters call 414699 for
more information.

Congratulations
To Paul and Jo from De Vol who were married at Quorn Parish
Church in August. Paul and Jo (we think) are the first couple to hold
a reception in the newly refurbished Village Hall.

Retirement Wishes
After many years running Quorn News on Loughborough Road
, Mr & Mrs Sawjani have taken well deserved retirement. After all
these years of early starts seven days a week, for 364 days a year, we
wish them well in their retirement.
The shop has now closed and is being converted to residential
accommodation but the business has been transferred to Bradley's Minimarket.
This has now been renamed as Bradley's Convenience and News to reflect
this new line of business.
David Mathews, the owner of Bradleys, has taken the opportunity
to refurbish the front of the shop, including improving the access for
those less agile. The smart new frontage is in line with the style of
many other shops in the village. David hopes that customers, old and new,
will appreciate this new service, and points out that paper deliveries
continue to operate as before. He is also pleased to take special orders
for any magazines.
