Families Connected to Quorndon (Quorn) Village

The Stocks Family History "I know that there are quite a few Stocks buried in Quorn churchyard, but exactly how did they all fit into the family tree and how long has there been a Stocks presence in Quorn?"
The Farnham Family Timothy Farnham's searches back through the Farnham family tree indicated that a forebear had emigrated from England to Massachusetts in 1635. Further investigation revealed a link to the Farnhams of Quorndon Leicestershire.
Woodforth Family History "My Woodforth ancestors married in Quorn in 1838 and shortly after departed for France and later to Australia."
The Parkinson Family "The Parkinsons first appeared in Quorndon (Quorn), when brothers Robert, Thomas and William settled there in the 1750's. It is likely that they came from Derbyshire before that.  There is little documentation, however, which has survived, which can give a more detailed picture."
The Stubbs Family Stubbs Family Members Going to Australia on the Fairlie. The Fairlie departed from Plymouth on 30 April 1848 and arrived at Sydney on 7 August 1848.
The Stubbs Family "Why was this English family living in France?  Why were there other English families  also embarking in Calais? Why would an English ship pick up passengers in France?
Finding the answers to these questions led us to uncover a fascinating story."
Craddock Family History "In 1843 Thomas Cradock was a solicitor and banker in Loughborough and he acquired the memorial rights of Loughborough in 1846. As Lord of the Manor he was entitled to one penny a head from those inhabitants owing suit of court but it became impossible to enforce the obligation."

The Jaques Family There were many early JAQUES people in the area around Quorndon, Coleorton, Belton, Breedon in Leics and Sutton Bonington, Normanton on Soar in Notts - these are all within the area served by Loughborough, Kegworth or Shepshed as their market towns and possibly imply a connection with the knitting industry there.

The Bootheway Family "Little enough can be discovered about Caroline Bootheway, and nothing of a personal nature. But the dry public records do tell us enough to make it unlikely that she was a welcome addition to a rich clerical family with semi-aristocratic connections and a strong intellectual bent. "
The Hill Family George Hill was a Lincolnshire farmer's son, who, in 1901 arrived in Leicestershire to work for the 'County Stores', a high quality grocery and provisions merchant.  He was, for some time, the manager of their shop, in the village of Quorn (or Quorndon).
